According to data given by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in the Rajya Sabha, Vodafone Essar has garnered 0.19 million new subscribers after the launch of mobile number portability (MNP), say news reports.

In contrast, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has lost more customers than it gained from other operators. Vodafone Essar is followed closely by Idea Cellular, with a net gain of 0.15 million subscribers.

Bharti airtel follows, with a net gain of about 0.14 million subscribers till date.

CDMA operators, on the other hand, are facing a huge exodus of subscribers, with Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Tata Teleservices Limited and BSNL losing subscribers to their GSM counterparts.

In RCOM?s case, for example, 0.13 million subscribers ported out, while 5,717 ported in. Similarly, TTSL lost over 0.10 million subscribers, while gaining 8,298 users.
