Viom Networks Limited has won a contract to offer Wi-Fi services at the Chennai International Airport. The deal is estimated to be worth Rs 200 to 300 million.
The win marks Viom Networks? first foray outside the tower business. With about 42,000 telecom towers, the company is currently the second largest telecom tower operator in the country after Indus Towers.
In addition to offering Wi-Fi services, Viom Networks will also offer services such as cable TV services at the airport. As per the deal, Viom will have to pay a licence fee of Rs 2.4 million per month to the Chennai International Airport. The contract is valid for seven years.
Viom Networks will develop the required infrastructure at the airport and partner with service providers for offering Wi-Fi service at the airport.
