Vikram Sinha: President Director and Chief Executive Officer, Indosat

Currently serving as the President Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, one of Indonesia’s leading telecommunications companies, Vikram Sinha is passionate about using technology to empower the country, not just as a consumer but as a creator.

Under Sinha’s leadership since 2021, following the merger of Indosat Ooredoo and Hutchison 3 Indonesia, the company currently serves around 100 million customers with an annual revenue of $3 billion. He is now steering the company towards an ambitious target of doubling its EBITDA from $1.5 billion in 2023 to $3 billion by 2028. His strategy is centred on strengthening the core mobile business, expanding digital services and exploring new business avenues such as enterprise solutions and home broadband, where the company aims to secure an 8-10 per cent market share over the next three years. With a strong focus on underserved rural areas, particularly in eastern Indonesia, the company has invested significantly in network expansion. “In 2024, we invested around $800 million to strengthen our network, with around 60 per cent dedicated to fortifying our network in rural parts of Indonesia. In 2025 we will continue this investment in our network, particularly in rural eastern Indonesia, where there are pockets where we are under-indexed,” he states.

He also aspires to make Indosat an AI-native company using three pillars – AI native telco, AI techCo and AI nation shaper. He was also associated with the creation of a full-stack sovereign AI factory in Indonesia, in partnership with Lintasarta, NVIDIA, Accenture and Google, which enables local enterprises to develop and scale AI applications securely within the country. “As businesses increasingly develop and use AI agents and other applications this may create the need for a strong 5G network,” he opines.

Before taking on his current role, Sinha held various leadership positions across the Ooredoo Group, including CEO roles at Ooredoo Myanmar and Ooredoo Maldives, as well as senior positions at Bharti Airtel in Africa and the Indian Ocean region. His career began with Coca-Cola, where he gained foundational experience in sales and marketing. His leadership is defined by his focus on empowerment, surrounding himself with strong teams and embracing a culture of calculated risk-taking.

Beyond work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their two children. He is an avid reader of leadership books and maintains a balanced lifestyle with activities such as cycling and running.
