Verizon Business has been operating in India for nearly two decades, playing a key role in supporting enterprise connectivity and digital transformation. Over the years, the company has built strong partnerships with enterprises across industries, helping them reimagine their operations with cutting-edge network and security solutions. In an interview with tele.net, Jophy Varghese, APAC Head – SI, and Country Manager, India Enterprise, Verizon Business, shared insights into the company’s focus areas, emerging trends in enterprise 5G and future plans…
What are your key focus areas?
Our key focus areas include managed network and security services, enabling enterprises to modernise their network infrastructure with scalable, secure and cloud-ready solutions, and delivering advanced cybersecurity solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of enterprises. Additionally, private 5G networks are a priority, driving adoption to unlock next-generation connectivity, particularly in industries like manufacturing, logistics and healthcare. We are also leveraging artificial intelligence (AI)-driven technologies for network optimisation.
What are the key emerging enterprise 5G trends in India? What role is Verizon playing in this regard?
The key emerging enterprise 5G trends in India include the rise of private 5G networks, which are becoming essential for industries requiring high speed, low-latency connectivity to enable automation, internet of things (IoT) and real-time data processing. Industry 4.0 is also driving the adoption of 5G, with sectors like manufacturing, logistics and utilities leveraging this technology to enhance productivity and optimise operations. Verizon is actively enabling this transformation by deploying secure, high-performance private 5G networks, collaborating with system integrators, and offering end-to-end solutions that ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
Another trend is the massive expansion of IoT, powered by 5G’s ability to handle large volumes of connected devices and transmit real-time data.
AI-driven networks are also reshaping the enterprise 5G landscape in India. These networks can automate management, predict failures and adapt in real time, ensuring seamless connectivity and smarter operations.
Global enterprises are increasingly adopting private 5G networks tailored to their unique business and operational needs. The combination of 5G and edge computing allows businesses to process data closer to the source, reducing latency and enhancing real-time decision-making capabilities. Verizon continues to partner with Indian system integrators across industries to unlock the full potential of 5G.
How do you see the future of 5G and edge computing evolve in India over the next few years?
The combination of 5G and edge computing will drive real-time applications across industries, including precision agriculture, smart cities and advanced telemedicine. These technologies will enable low-latency, data-driven processes critical for automation, scalability and efficiency. In India, we anticipate significant adoption as enterprises leverage this combination to enhance operations and provide innovative services.
In manufacturing, predictive maintenance and real-time data analysis can prevent downtime, reduce costs and increase productivity. In healthcare, 5G’s ultra-low latency and edge computing’s localised data processing will power real-time remote diagnostics, wearable health monitoring and predictive analytics, improving accessibility and outcomes. Supply chain and logistics will benefit from real-time asset tracking and optimised routing, enabled by edge analytics and 5G connectivity, resulting in greater efficiency. Retailers will benefit from enhanced customer experiences owing to cashier-less checkouts and personalised services.
Going forward, what opportunities do you foresee in the Indian market?
India offers significant opportunities across sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture and urban infrastructure, driven by the adoption of Industry 4.0 and smart technologies. Verizon plans to leverage these opportunities by expanding its private 5G and edge computing offerings, collaborating with industry partners and delivering tailored solutions that address the unique needs of Indian enterprises while driving digital transformation. As enterprises migrate to cloud-based operations and embrace hybrid work models, there is a growing demand for secure, scalable and flexible network solutions. Verizon is well positioned to address this need through its network-as-a-service offerings, enabling seamless connectivity and improved network agility.
Another critical area of opportunity is cybersecurity. Due to the growing frequency and sophistication of cyber threats, Indian businesses are prioritising investments in robust security frameworks. Verizon is leveraging its global expertise to provide tailored cybersecurity solutions, including managed security services, advanced threat intelligence and incident response capabilities. These solutions are designed to protect critical assets, ensure business continuity and build long-term resilience.
