Uninor is in talks with other telecom operators to explore the possibility of re-appointment of its staff, say news reports.

The operator is in discussions with the human resource departments of several other telecom operators to explore employment opportunities available with them for redeployment of its staff, affected by the scaling down of Uninor?s operations.

Currently, Uninor is in the process of downsizing its operations in four circles – Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Odisha.

The move is likely to impact 2,000 jobs including 400 direct jobs. While some of the affected employees will be rehabilitated within Uninor?s other operational circles, it has appointed an outsourcing agency to help several others in seeking job opportunities outside the company. It also plans to set up a help desk within the company to facilitate the process.
