Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) has filed a petition with the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) against Vodafone on a matter related to termination of SMSes on its network, say news reports.
TDSAT has listed the issue for hearing for November 20, 2012. At the same time, Vodafone has also assured the tribunal that it would not stop the interconnection of TTSL’s SMSes from its network till the next date of hearing.
Both TTSL and Vodafone are involved in a dispute over the payment of fees for termination charges. Termination charges are paid by an operator from whose network calls or SMSes originate to the one on whose network these communications end.
Earlier, Vodafone issued a termination notice to TTSL asking it to pay Rs 1.88 billion as SMS termination fee by November 17, failing which it would disconnect its SMSes from its network. Vodafone has asked TTSL to pay a termination fee of Re 0.10 per SMS from April 2011.
