The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has reportedly formed an in-house study centre to facilitate proactive research activities in evolving and upcoming technologies that are likely to disrupt the telecommunication and broadcasting sectors.
According to the regulatory body, the new unit, called Centre of Study and Research (CoSR), would function as an independent division to bring out forward-looking papers and undertake research into matters including digital inclusion. It will initially employ internal human resources.
TRAI has appointed Anil Kumar Bharadwaj, advisor, Broadcasting and Cable Services, TRAI, as the director general of the new centre.
