Thorsten Heins is RIM’s new president and chief executive officer

Research In Motion?s (RIM) board of directors has named Thorsten Heins president and chief executive officer. Heins was also appointed to RIM?s board. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Mike Lazaridis, former co-chair and co-CEO, has become vice-chair of RIM?s board and chair of the board?s new Innovation Committee. The other co-chief executive Officer, Jim Balsillie has also quit and will now be a member of the board.
