The world’s top telecom equipment maker Ericsson will form a joint venture with Taiwan’s Lorom Industrial Company (Lorom) to start manufacturing in Taiwan. The joint venture is to be located in Hangzhou, capital of east China’s Zhejiang Province. The initial investment in the planned partnership amounts to $12 million. Ericsson will hold a 60 per cent stake in the venture, with Lorom taking the remainder. The joint venture, called Ericsson Lorom Technology (Hangzhou) Company, will focus on R&D, manufacturing and sales of telecom network products and optic fibre solutions for both China as well as global markets. It will also provide products and solutions to support a variety of telecom applications, including broadband access and 3G mobile telecom networks. Currently Lorom has manufacturing facilities in Hangzhou and Shenzhen. Ericsson has a manufacturing facility in Nanjing and an R&D facility in Shanghai.
