
The Videocon Group has reportedly offered to acquire the 36 per cent stake that Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited’s Mahendra Nahata owns in Datacom. Earlier, Nahata had threatened to go to court against Videocon for alleged violation of Datacom’s shareholders agreement. Nahata holds stake in Datacom through Jumbo Techno Services. According to industry analysts, the valuation of Nahata’s stake is $1-$2 billion.
Videocon is currently in talks with foreign telecom service providers including Dubai-based Etisalat, Kuwait’s Zain and France Telecom for offloading stake in Datacom.
