The Union Budget 2010-11 has earmarked Rs 181.35 billion as the total planned outlay for DoT. This comprises Rs 20 billion as budgetary support and Rs 161.35 billion as internal and extra-budgetary resources for the PSUs –? Rs 12.04 billion for Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Rs 148.91 billion for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Rs 400 million for C-DOT.

The budgetary support includes a provision of Rs 2 billion for the Northeast, including Sikkim.
