Ericsson and 3 Italia have together established an industry-first: an enhanced high speed packet access (HSPA) mobile data connection in the latter’s network. The technology will enable maximum uplink data rates of 5.8 Mbps and a significant reduction in network latency. According to Ericsson, the higher uplink data speeds and lowered latency in the mobile network will facilitate efficient interactive communication. The company further stated that faster uplinks will provide improved consumer experience in areas such as video conferencing, uploading user-generated content and sending emails with attachments, while offering better performance in interactive online gaming.
