The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has fixed Rs 19 as the porting charge (the amount to be paid by a subscriber to the recipient operator) for availing of MNP.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has fixed Rs 19 as the porting charge (the amount to be paid by a subscriber to the recipient operator) for availing of MNP. TRAI has stated that operators are free to levy less than or equal to this charge. It has also fixed the per port transaction charge at Rs 19. This charge is payable by the recipient operator (the operator to whom the subscriber ports) to the MNP service provider for processing the porting request of a mobile number. These charges will come into force on December 31, 2009.
