The Telecom Authority of Bangladesh has come out with its International Long-Distance Telecommunication Services Policy, 2007. The Bangladesh government is planning to link international gateways to the country’s submarine cable, interconnection exchanges and access network service (ANS). Once the gateways are linked, ANS will provide direct services to customers. The government has further decided to auction the licences for three international gateways and two interconnect exchanges. No foreign company will be eligible to take part in the bidding process for the licences.
