Hong Kong has started the auction process for allotting the fifth 3G CDMA2000 licence. The lowest bid price has been set at $9.7 million. Interested companies are required to submit their bids by October 12, 2007, and the auction result will be announced by November 2007. According to sources, once the licence is issued, radio spectrum with a bandwidth of 7.5 MHzx2 in the 850 MHz band will be assigned to the licensee against a lump-sum payment.
