The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to auction spectrum in the 800 MHz band for the rollout of digital push-to-talk (PTT) services. The regulator has stated that its decision is based on statistics that show that there is a high demand for PTT services, particularly in the industrial sector. PTA has issued a consultation paper seeking feedback from industry players on the regulatory framework for PTT services, including the auction mechanism for the frequency bands 806 MHz-811 MHz and 851 MHz-856 MHz, which have been identified for the PTT service as part of PTA’s National Frequency Plan.
