
Indonesia’s second largest telecom operator by subscriber, PT Indonesian Satellite Corporation (Indosat) has decided to allocate 60 per cent of the $600 million capex for 2009-10 for expansion and improvement of its networks and services. The expenditure will be funded through internal resources and bank loans.
Indosat’s competitors are also intent on spending heavily in 2009-10. PT Telkom has allocated up to $2 billion as capex for 2009-10, while PT Excelcomindo Pratama has announced that it will invest $600-$700 million in 2009-10. PT Bakrie Telecom plans to spend $200 million and PT Mobile-8 around $125 million during the year.
