The Malaysian government has awarded a broadband project to Telekom Malaysia. Targeted to provide broadband connectivity to 2.2 million premises, the project is estimated to cost $4.46 billion and will be completed in 10 years. The company has been directed to start initial work on the project, though the deployment of physical infrastructure is likely to be undertaken six months after the signing of the partnership agreement between the company and the government.
