
According to the data released by Cellular Operators? Association of India (COAI), the GSM subscriber base in the country increased from 711.02 million in February 2014 to 721.93 million in March 2014.
In the month of March, India?s third leading operator Idea Cellular added maximum number of subscribers – 2.24 million, taking its total user base to 135.79 million. The second-largest operator Vodafone India added 2.22 million users during the month, increasing its total user base to 166.56 million as of March-end. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel, the country?s largest telecom operator by subscribers and revenue added 1.89 million users and its subscriber base stood at 205.39 million.
Other operators including Aircel, Telewings Communications and Videocon Telecom added 1 million, 719,121 and 320,427 users respectively. Meanwhile state-owned operator, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited lost 134,610 users.
As per COAI, among circles, Uttar Pradesh (East) added the maximum number of users (1.09 million) in March 2014. The total subscriber base in the circle at the end of March 2014 stood at 63.86 million.
