The government is pulling out all the stops to boost the use of green energy solutions in the telecom industry.

As per news reports, a panel within the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has suggested that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) deploy solar power at its cell towers in rural areas.

The operator will collaborate with the Universal Services Obligation (USO) Fund for the same. Further, it is believed that this exercise will initially be launched in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and the north east, after the scale of the project and the role of the USO Fund are determined.
