In continuation of the Aircel Maxis-Maran case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly despatched Letters Rogatory (LRs) to four countries to trace the money trail in the case. The countries include Malaysia, Mauritius and Bermuda.

As per the agency, Dayanidhi Maran, during his tenure as Minister of Telecommunications and IT, had deliberately delayed the process of licence allotment to Aircel and expedited the process for Maxis. In return, Maxis invested considerable sums in Sun TV.

Further, it was alleged that Maran had asked C. Sivasankaran, promoter of Aircel to sell his stake to the Maxis group of Malaysia.
