The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has halved the operating licence renewal fees of privately owned PSTN service providers. The country’s alternative fixed line oper-ators, which largely connect customers via wireless in local loop technology, will also have their wireless spectrum fees, financial performance guarantees and rollout obligations cut by half. According to BTRC, the new charges are backdated to January 1, 2008.
