Thailand’s telecommunications regulator is planning to issue 3G mobile service licences to private operators in May 2008. The regulator is in the process of having the qualification criteria for licences drafted by an adviser and this is expected to be finalised by April 2008. Issuing of 3G licences, which would enable private operators to tap new revenue streams, has been delayed for several years since the process was stuck on account of political interferences.
