The search for a new chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) continues.
According to news reports, the selection committee established for this purpose interviewed 10 potential candidates for the post.
It is believed that the list included Rakesh Mehrotra, Subodh Kumar, Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation; Ajay Bhattacharya, Secretary, Department of Fertilisers, Indu Liberhan, Former Secretary, Defence Finance, Vijayalakshmi K. Gupta who had held the position of Secretary, Defence Finance and Chandra Prakash, former Member, Technology, Department of Telecommunications.
Prior to this, as per news reports, Rajinder Pal Singh, former secretary, Department of Industry Policy and Promotion, emerged as a strong contender for the post.
Dr J.S. Sarma, TRAI?s current chairman is retiring in May 2012.
