Norway-based Telenor?s Indian subsidiary, Telewings Communications has reported a 38 per cent year-on-year increase in gross revenue for the quarter ended September 2014. The average revenue per user (ARPU) for the company has also increased by 4.4 per cent year-on-year to Rs 104 in the quarter ended September 2014. The ARPU growth was driven by higher share of Internet users in its subscriber base.

The company, which operates under the brand name of Uninor, added 1.8 million subscribers in its six circles during the given period. As a result, the company reported a 32 per cent year-on-year increase in its subscriber base in the country. The company has also reported a 72 per cent year-on-year increase in its internet subscriber base and 131 per cent rise in Internet revenues for the same quarter.

The company has planned a total addition of 5,000 new sites in 2014, out of which 4,400 sites have been deployed in the quarter ended 2014. Meanwhile in October 2014, Telenor Group completed the acquisition of additional 26 per cent ownership stake in Telewings Communications, held by Lakshdeep Investment & Finance.
