Telecom operators will be able to avoid up to 65 per cent of operational costs by deploying IP network automation across three operations categories – service fulfilment, network lifecycle management, and network and service assurance, as per a joint study by Nokia and Analysys Mason.
The study focused on implementing network automation for the abovementioned categories of operations using the Nokia NSP.
The study showed that saving money at the domain controller is the result of factors such as process automation that reduces labor time for manual workloads by 68 percent, which in turn reduces the time required to roll out new services by 88 percent.
According to the study, fewer manual interventions translated into a reduction of 85 per cent in time spent on errors to be solved; furthermore, automating the alarm correlation process and root cause analysis can reduce repair time by 71 per cent.
Researchers interviewed a group of global operators about their network automation strategies and results, collecting more than 60 data points to quantify the benefits of network automation at the domain controller layer.
