As per the recent performance indicator report (PIR) released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the telecom industry recorded a sequential growth of 3.58 per cent in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) in the quarter ended (QE) September 2020.

On the operators’ front, Jio’s AGR stood at Rs 159.15 billion, witnessing a rise of 4.29 per cent on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis. Further, Airtel and Vodafone Idea reported an increase of 6.71 per cent and 9.73 per cent in their AGR, which stood at Rs 107.64 billion and Rs 64.35 billion, respectively.

Gross Revenue (GR) for the industry increased to Rs 682.28 billion during the QE September 2020.

Further, the report suggested that Airtel recorded highest net additions of 10.08 million which translates into a market share of 28.33 per cent. Jio and Vodafone Idea had a market share of 34.76 per cent and 25.33 per cent. While Jio net additions stood 7.50 million subscribers, Vodafone Idea lost around 9.56 million subscribers.

India’s internet subscriber base registered a quarterly growth of 3.66 per cent to 776.45 million. Wireless mobile internet subscribers comprise 103.20 per cent of total internet users in the country.

Further, the monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) for telecom service providers increased from Rs 90.12 in QE June 2020 to Rs 96.87 in QE September 2020. Prepaid ARPU per month grew from Rs 84 to Rs 90 while postpaid ARPU per month declined from Rs 224 to Rs 234.
