The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has asked the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to address Reliance Communication?s (RCOM) issues on a level playing field for telecom operators in the upcoming 2G spectrum auction, say news reports.

TDSAT?s directions have come in response to a petition filed by RCOM early this month against DoT on its 2G auction guidelines. The operator in its petition stated that the DoT?s guidelines on 2G spectrum auction discriminated between CDMA and GSM operators given that the CDMA players will be allowed to bid for only one slot of 1.25 MHz of spectrum whereas GSM players will be allowed to bid for two slots. RCOM claimed that this would create a non-level playing field for the operators.
