The customer verification issue continues.
Prior to this, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had imposed a penalty of Rs 5.8 million on Reliance Telecom Limited (RTL) and Rs 0.9 million on Reliance Communications (RCOM) in this context.
This was on grounds that the companies failed to adhere to the required customer verification procedure in the Madhya Pradesh circle.
Thereafter, the companies took up the issue to the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).
Now, TDSAT has asked DoT not to encash the bank guarantees of these two companies until the next date of hearing which is July 4, 2012.
