According to Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chairman, Tata Sons, Tata Group is expected to announce plans to build a new semiconductor fabrication plant in Gujarat in 2024.

He noted that chip manufacturing is a key plank of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s business agenda, however initial bids to offer $10 billion in incentives to the chipmaking industry have floundered, with some proposals stalled or cancelled.

In addition, Tata Group will begin construction of a 20GW lithium ion battery storage factory in Gujarat in the next couple of months.
