Tata Communications has announced the inauguration of its 44th, state-of-the-art, data centre, and the third in New Delhi. Located at Greater Kailash, the data centre is an integral part of Tata Communications? overall objective to strengthen its global data centre footprint and be a truly pan- India data centre major.

The launch of this data centre positions Tata Communications as a truly pan-India player in the data centre business with continued commitment to growth in this sector. These data centres offer a complete array of configuration choices, including shared rack space, full cabinets and cage space colocation along with unlimited scalability in the future. Centrally managed, these data centres provide customers with optimal performance, reduced total cost of ownership, security and effective utilisation of resources.

With the growing adoption of cloud services, chief information officers today include data centre as an important element in their infrastructure strategy. The third party data centre market is poised for a robust growth as more and more enterprises are now strategising to avail IT Infrastructure ?as a service?. This enables them to save cost in building huge captive data centres.

Tata Communications plans to invest more than $200 million towards doubling its data center capacity in India from 500,000 sq ft to 1,000,000 sq ft over a period of three years.

Commenting on the inauguration, Rangu Salgame, chief executive officer, growth ventures, Tata Communications stated, ?We are witnessing a surge in data generation and storage needs like never before. Enterprises are contending with trends such as bring your own device, social networking, mobile, analytics and cloud – and Tata Communications is well placed to partner with them through these exciting times. Our global data centre portfolio underpinned with our unmatched network reach provides the infrastructure backbone that our customers can leverage to their advantage. This, our third data centre in Delhi, has been designed and constructed with a ‘no-compromises’ approach: right from LEED Gold certification for the building to free air cooling and scalability to 200,000 sq. ft. and 10 MW.?
