Tata Communications (Hong Kong) Limited has invested in San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company, Sentient Technologies in its Series C Funding. This comes in line with the Tata Communications? long term strategy of focusing on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

Sentient raised $103.5 million in Series C funding from Tata Communications (Hong Kong), Access Industries, Horizons Ventures, and a group of private investors. The company will use the funds to further expand its distributed artificial intelligence products and services. Sentient specialises in distributed computing technology that helps companies use software to manage complex tasks such as financial trading.

Vinod Kumar, managing director and chief executive officer, Tata Communications said, “As an investor, we share a common vision on the transformative force that massively distributed computing and artificial intelligence can play in helping businesses get insights on big data problems. We see Sentient at the forefront of these technologies in bringing a disruptive approach to cloud based computing services.
