
With the government planning to set-up 100 smart cities, Tata Communications is eyeing new business opportunities in the fibre-to-the-home market (FTTH). Given its expertise in establishing optic fibre cable network, it is keen to leverage potential business opportunities presented by connected smart cities.
The company sees demand for optic fibre cables in tier 3, 4, 5 and 6 Indian cities, as tier 1 cities have been already connected and tier 2 were currently being connected with fibre cable network.
Besides, growth opportunities presented by the rollout of fibre-optic networks, Tata Communications is also likely to pursue opportunities in mobile network space, especially for a single account holder to operate his mobile phone and surf the internet from another country.
