
Taiwan-based chip maker, MediaTek is planning to launch a research and development (R&D) facility in Bengaluru. The facility will be the second one for MediaTek after the Noida R&D centre.
The Bengaluru R&D centre will be responsible for the creation of design solutions for emerging technologies. The company is planning to hire professionals from the IC design industry to work in collaboration with its other centres across the world.
MediaTek has planned an expenditure of $200 million for its investments in India over the next few years. It presently manufactures processors for a range of Indian smartphone makers and plans to diversify its operations to home entertainment and connectivity segments.
