The Supreme Court on October 13, 2025, adjourned the hearing on Vodafone Idea Limited’s (Vi) plea to quash the Department of Telecommunications’ additional adjusted gross revenue (AGR) demands for up to 2016–17.
A bench of Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran deferred the matter after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, for the Centre, sought a post-Diwali listing. The court has now fixed October 27, 2025 for consideration.
Vi had filed a fresh petition challenging a Rs 56.06 billion demand for 2016-17. The Centre had earlier indicated ongoing efforts to reach a resolution with the company, with Mehta noting the government holds nearly 50 per cent equity in Vi, making it a direct stakeholder in the operator’s viability.
