The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has set up 65 STPI centres across the country, based on proposals from respective state governments.
In addition, the government has also approved 20 new STPI centres across the country.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had notified the electronics manufacturing clusters (EMC) scheme in October 2012 to support the creation of world-class infrastructure, along with common facilities and amenities, to attract investments in the electronics sector. Under this scheme, 19 greenfield EMCs and three common facility centres (CFCs) have been approved across 15 states in the country. Further, MeitY introduced the modified electronics manufacturing clusters (EMC 2.0) scheme on April 1, 2020. To date, five applications for establishing EMC projects and one application for setting up a CFC have been approved across six states in the country.
