The Delhi High Court has directed Twitter to submit details of its compliance with the new IT rules within three weeks’ time.

In addition, it has also sought a response from the union government on a petition stating that Twitter had not complied with the regulations that came into effect on May 25, 2021. As per the petition filed in the Delhi High Court, Twitter had not designated a Grievance officer to respond to user complaints.

Thus, the Delhi HC has also directed Twitter to comply with India’s new IT rules.

The petition in the Delhi HC was filed in the backdrop of Twitter not complying with the new IT rules while other social media platforms have done so. While the government directed Twitter to comply with the new rules immediately, the microblogging platform has sought three months to do so.
