
SK Telecom has invested $3 million in Alereon, an ultra-wideband (UWB) technology provider for WiMedia and Certified Wireless USB applications. With this, SK Telecom has become the second major Korean investor in Alereon, following Samsung Ventures’ investment in the fourth quarter of 2006. According to company officials, SK Telecom intends to use Alereon’s UWB technologyas a standardised method of providing high speed mobile phone services to its customers, thus expanding the options for entertainment content delivery on their mobile devices.
