SAR Televenture Limited has acquired a majority stake in Tikona Infinet Limited, an internet service provider (ISP), through a share swap deal valued at Rs 5.78 billion. This acquisition comes as smaller ISPs face increasing challenges in competing with dominant players like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, both of which have been expanding aggressively in the home broadband market.
With this deal, SAR Televenture is set to strengthen its presence in the enterprise broadband segment, positioning itself as the third-largest player in this space. Further, the acquisition also brings under SAR Televenture’s fold Tikona’s pan-India Unified License (ISP, Category-A) and National Long Distance (NLD) license. These licenses enabled Tikona to offer broadband, leased lines, VPNs, and other telecom services.
Post-acquisition, SAR Televenture’s service portfolio will expand to include 4G/5G tower deployment, fibre-to-the-home solutions, optical fibre cable infrastructure, enterprise networking solutions, and retail broadband services.
