Samsung has introduced the CDMA-based Galaxy Y smartphone.

The phone runs on the Android 2.3 gingerbread operating system and is powered by the 600 MHz Qualcomm snapdragon processor. It has a TFT touch display screen.

Samsung Galaxy Y offers video streaming on the move and comes preloaded with applications like google mail, youtube, google talk and google maps.

The smartphone is priced at Rs 7, 999.

Commenting on the launch, Ranjit Yadav, country head, Samsung Mobile and IT, says, ?The success of the Galaxy Y in the GSM space has encouraged us to launch the CDMA version of this product with MTS.?

The phone comes bundled with unlimited data and voice offerings from Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL). With a recharge of Rs 493, subscribers will have access to unlimited data usage for three months. They will also enjoy free local calls within the operator?s network.

According to Leonid Musatov, chief marketing and sales officer, SSTL, ?The Galaxy Y not only offers smarter user experience but also empowers customers to use unlimited data and voice services on our network.?
