Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has inked a tower sharing deal with telecom infrastructure service provider, Ascend Telecom. Under the deal, RJIL will utilise over 4,500 mobile towers owned by Ascend Telecom for launching its 4G services in select few cities across the country in 2014.

Post the agreement, RJIL has access to a portfolio of about 192,500 telecom towers. The company already has tower sharing agreements with Bharti Infratel, Reliance Communications (RCOM), Viom Network, American Tower Company (ATC) and Tower Vision.

As per the deal with Bharti Infratel, RJIL will have access to about 82,000 telecom towers, while the agreement with Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Communications will provide it access to about 45,000 towers. Further, the infrastructure sharing deal with Viom Networks and ATC gives the company access to 42,000 and 11,000 telecom towers, respectively. In addition, RJIL can utilise 8,400 telecom towers owned by Tower Vision for launching 4G services.

RJIL, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, is the only company to hold a pan India 4G spectrum. At present, the company holds spectrum in the 1800 MHz band (across 14 circles) and 2300 MHz bands (across 22 circles).
