Retired Supreme Court judge Justice Shiva Kirti Singh has been appointed chairman of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT). The post had been vacant since June 2016, following the retirement of former chairman Justice Aftab Alam. As per norms, the head of the dispute resolution agency for the telecom industry must be a person who has been a Supreme Court judge or the chief justice of a high court. Justice Singh was chief justice of the Allahabad High Court before he became a judge in the apex court.
