According to news reports, Reliance-owned FLAG Telecom has concluded a deal with Qatar Telecom for its undersea cable systems network in the Middle East. Under this multimillion dollar deal, Qatar Telecom will bear the cost of setting up a landing station for FLAG’s Falcon cable system in Doha. FLAG and VSNL have been trying to put in place extensive cable networks and sign up overseas telecom companies as customers. FLAG’s Falcon system, being built by Alcatel Submarine Networks, already covers Oman, Egypt, Bahrain and Kuwait.
