
Meanwhile, Anil Ambani, CEO of Reliance Communication, the M largest CDMA operator in the country, has refused the volume-based discount proposal by Qualcomm, which has led to a failure in talks between the two companies. Qualcomm, reportedly, also offered to share the marketing, advertising and promotional costs incurred by Reliance. Reliance had sought a reduction in handset prices by decreasing royalty levies. According to sources, Reliance pays 7 per cent royalty, while China and Korea pay about 2 per cent and the US pays zero per cent.
