RCOM is in the process of placing GSM handset orders with Samsung Telecommunications India, the LG Group and Motorola.

The order, which can vary from 5.25 to 7.7 million handsets depending on monthly sales targets, is expected to cost RCOM between Rs 21 billion and Rs 30 billion. The company initially plans to introduce GSM services in 250 large cities and expand by mid-2009 to other parts of the country.
