
RCOM has reportedly shown interest in bidding for Iran’s third mobile phone service licence, estimated to cost $1 billion. The country recently invited telecom companies to take part in the tender. The other bidders for the licence will be telecom companies from Russia, Turkey and Malaysia. Following the award of the new licence, Iran envisages to extend telephony services to 5 million customers in the first phase, 10 million in the second and 15 million in the third.
