According to the Manufacturers? Association of Information Technology (MAIT), the PC market will reach 12.21 million units in 2014-15 in comparison to 11.85 million units last year. Further, it expects desktop PC and laptop segment to register a flat growth of about three per cent.
MAIT forecasts the desktop PC sales to reach 4.21 million units in 2014-15 as against 5.01 million units in 2013-14. However, it expects smartphones market to grow by 91 per cent to reach 100 million units in 2014-15 as against 52.43 million units in 2013-14.
Meanwhile, the association expects tablet computers sales to increase from 3.35 million units in 2013-14 to 4.26 million units in 2014-15 registering a growth of 27 per cent. At the same, time, laptop sales is forecast to grow from 6.84 million units in 2013-14 to eight million units in 2014-15 witnessing a 17 per cent growth.
