Dixon Technologies’ subsidiary, Padget Electronics has set up a new smartphone manufacturing facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with an annual capacity of 25 million devices and an investment of Rs 2.56 billion. Padget has also commenced smartphone manufacturing for Xiaomi in the third quarter (Q3) of 2023.
In May 2023, Xiaomi India had partnered with contract manufacturer Dixon to produce smartphones for the domestic market and for exports. The companies, then, however, had not disclosed specifics of the partnership.
This is a significant step forward in boosting the local smartphone manufacturing ecosystem in India and building a strong, world-class technology ecosystem.
