Amit Gautam, Head of Sales, Orange Business India

Indian businesses are rapidly adopting various emerging technologies amid increasing digitalisation. In an interview with tele.net, Amit Gautam, Head of Sales, Orange Business India, shared insights into the company’s key focus areas in India, major trends shaping the enterprise connectivity space and future plans…

How have the connectivity needs of Indian enterprises changed lately?

First, a key change is the transition from multiprotocol label switching (MPLS)-based networks to software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) and secure access service edge (SASE) for more agile, secure and cloud-optimised connectivity. Second, companies are prioritising zero-trust security frameworks, end-to-end encryption and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered threat detection integrated into network infrastructure. Third, there is an increasing adoption of multicloud and edge
computing solutions. Finally, there is a shift towards AI-powered automation in network operations.

Trends that may shape the future are seamless connectivity across various private clouds; converging network security with SD-WAN for a cloud-first, secure networking approach; smart infrastructure creation; and AI-driven voice, video and messaging solutions.

What were your business highlights in 2024-25 and current focus areas?

With regard to the company’s key business highlights in FY 2024-25, Anant Raj Cloud emerged as one of our key customers in 2024, reinforcing our leadership in cloud and data centre solutions. We also played a pivotal role in supporting various state data centres across India as part of the Digital India initiative. Orange Business secured and executed multiple large-scale projects related to wireless and data networking deployments; firewall migration and upgrades to enhance cybersecurity; infrastructure as-a-service for public cloud adoption; design, build and operations of data centres; and end-to-end digital network infrastructure overhaul for large enterprises.

One of Orange Business’ focus areas in the country is the expansion of global capability centres (GCCs). We are strengthening our digital health solutions and are also actively involved in enabling transformation through secure connectivity, internet of things (IoT), AI and 5G-driven smart infrastructure. Furthermore, we are driving Industry 4.0 adoption through solutions such as private 5G, automation and digital twins to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Orange Business will continue to accelerate digital transformation across industries, leveraging AI-driven automation, cloud-native solutions, cybersecurity and hybrid networking.

Which new technologies are finding greater adoption among Indian enterprises? How are you supporting clients in digital integration?

The key technologies gaining traction are generative AI-powered automation, multi-cloud adoption with zero-trust architecture (ZTA), smart infrastructure, energy-efficient data centres and carbon-neutral cloud computing.

Orange Business supports its customers through its innovative “Evolution Platform” model. It provides customers control over their direct and indirect costs, flexible support for their comfort, an adaptive infrastructure with modules to meet their needs, and a secured-by-design network infrastructure.

What are the key cybersecurity challenges and potential solutions for enterprises?

The rise of adversarial AI techniques, combined with increased connectivity through IoT and 5G, is expanding the attack surface of systems, increasing the risk of ransomware, data breaches and phishing attacks.

The other challenges include a shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals, weak cybersecurity awareness among employees and inadequate implementation of security frameworks. Additionally, compliance with evolving data protection laws, such as the  Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, adds complexity to security strategies.

Technology vendors and digital integrators such as Orange Business and Orange Cyberdefense possess deep cybersecurity expertise to identify and neutralise emerging threats to keep enterprises safe.

What opportunities is Orange Business looking to leverage in the Indian market?

Orange Business is expected to prioritise key industry segments with high growth potential. These include state and central government PSUs, global system integrators, GCCs, manufacturing, healthcare and BFSI.

A key focus area is building a strong foundation for enterprises with next-generation networking, connectivity and high-performance computing. We are also focused on enhancing agility and automation across IT environments with SD-WAN, SD-LAN and software-defined data centres, and offering seamless multi-cloud and hybrid cloud solutions to enhance flexibility, security and operational efficiency. We will strengthen enterprise security with ZTA, AI-driven threat intelligence and end-to-end protection. Driving superior digital experiences with AI-powered customer service, personalised engagement and intuitive enterprise solutions is another top priority for us. Orange Business will continue to drive smart industries. In the data centre domain, we are optimising infrastructure with high-performance computing, energy-efficient designs, and secure, scalable architectures.
