According to a recent report by Cisco, only 17 per cent of organisations in India are fully equipped to capture the complete value of artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting a substantial readiness gap despite growing investments in the technology.
The report notes that while 32 per cent of Indian businesses consider AI a top budget priority, many continue to face challenges stemming from weak foundational structures such as unclear success metrics and a lack of scalable infrastructure, factors that hinder the realisation of AI’s potential value.
Further, about 50 per cent of Indian organisations have reported an increased urgency in the past six months to demonstrate returns on AI investments. However, only 40 per cent have defined processes to evaluate AI’s impact, and just 24 per cent have identified use cases that have progressed beyond the pilot phase.
